Learning Highlights
In science this week we have been learning about warm and cool colors. We are using this concept to create a frame for our traditions picture that we have been working on. We also did this experiment called the black dot. The question we were investigating was; What makes black?
We shared our hypothesis before we started the experiment. We had t make sure that we followed the correct procedure, as scientists do. It was so awesome to see what happened to the black dot as we added water drops to it. We saw blue, brown, orange, pink and even some green come out of the black dot!
This week in math we are working to finish up our 3D shape projects and information charts. Once our chart is completed we have to have an interview with Mrs. Hamby. In the interview we have to be able to tell her about our project. We have to identify the shapes we used. We also have to show her how we counted faces, edges and vertices for some of our shapes. If we didn't get the right information on our chart because we didn't count accurately she helps us to correct it.
Today we started building skeletons of shapes using toothpicks and marshmallows. This also helps us to focus on edges and vertices of 3D shapes.
We continue to share our family traditions and are excited for our classmates to hear about what we do together as families. We are learning that some families share similar traditions and we are excited to learn about some other family traditions that we have not had an opportunity to learn about before. After sharing and drawing about our traditions we will also be writing about what we have shared.
